Within the scope of the Social Contribution Activities, our Graduate School organized the “Fighting Addiction and Awareness Training: Become Stronger with Awareness, Resist Addiction!” training for academic, administrative staff and students during the Youth Week. Police Officer Canan YÜCEL, who works at the Ankara Provincial Police Department’s Narcotics Crimes Branch Directorate, was the speaker in the program. Our Graduate School Director Prof. Dr. Şaban ÇETİN, Gazi Faculty of Education Dean Prof. Dr. Mahmut SELVİ, Vice Dean Prof. Dr. Serkan KOŞAR, Graduate School Vice Directors Prof. Dr. Ayşe YALÇIN ÇELİK, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet YÜKSEL, School Secretary Ceylan YAVUZ KONUK, academic, administrative staff and students attended the program.

The program, which started with a moment of silence and the National Anthem, continued with the opening speech of Graduate School Director Prof. Dr. Şaban Çetin. Drawing attention to the fight against addiction in his speech, Çetin emphasized the importance of teachers in this regard and said that addiction can be eliminated with education.

After the opening speech, the training started with the talk by Police Officer Canan Yücel of the Combating Narcotic Crimes Department. Yücel drew attention to important issues in her speech, regarding substance addiction. She stated that the “UYUMA” application developed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs to combat drugs was implemented and that the application aimed to intervene in drug crimes more quickly. Yücel explained the roles of families and schools in the fight against addiction, and emphasized the psychological and physical harms of addiction.

After the training, a certificate of appreciation was presented to Canan Yücel, who conducted the training, by Gazi Faculty of Education Dean Prof. Dr. Mahmut Selvi. The program, which attracted great interest from our students, academic and administrative staff, ended after a group photo.
